Celia Duncan Painting

Celia Duncan is delighted to have her gallery in The House That Jack Built, in the historic location of the Barbican which has produced some of the most famous artists from Devon.

From an extended family of artists (experiences of which range from the Slade, through Dartington and into commercial art), Celia initially spent her working life teaching and lecturing molecular and environmental sciences.

Gradually the Arts and Sciences moulded into her hybrid of new art - straying from the conventional traditions, and more unique as a result. For the past eight years Celia's work and career have been solely directed towards creating her artwork. During this time, she has exhibited in galleries all over the West Country, the South of England and London. Celia has produced images for Historic Scotland and its properties, as well as the Eden Project.  She was recently featured on a television programme, and in both Cornwall Life and the Western Morning News.

Influenced by the Cornish coastline, her paintings are host to scenes of fishing villages and little boats. Each piece has a unique movement and energy, entwined with a narrative, with the use of vivid colours capturing the imagination of all ages.

Celia has illustrated both children's books as well as a book cover for a new novel.  In addition, she has been involved in the production of images for a number of important West Country commercial companies.  Much of her recent work has been in the form of commissions and large gallery canvases.
