Celia Duncan PaintingCelia Duncan has her gallery in The House that Jack Built and is delighted to have an outlet at this location which has historically produced some of the most famous artists from Devon.

Celia was brought up in an extended family of artists where experience ranged from the Slade, through Dartington into commercial art.  Initially her working life was spent teaching and lecturing molecular and environmental sciences.  Gradually the Arts and Sciences moulded into the creativity of her new art - outside the conventional and more unique as a result.  For the past eight years Celia's work and career have been solely directed towards her art.

She has been very influenced by the environment of Cornwall.  The fishing villages and the little boats characterise and inhabit her work.  Each picture has a story and movement, much appreciated by both children and adults.  The use of bright colours and clear lines has attracted much attention.

Over the past eight years she has exhibited in galleries all over the West Country, the South of England and London.  Celia has produced images for Historic Scotland and its properties as well as the Eden Project in Cornwall.  She was recently featured in a television programme and in both Cornwall Life and the Western Morning News.

Celia has illustrated both children's books as well as a book cover for a new novel.  In addition she has been involved in the production of images for a number of important West Country commercial companies.  Much of her recent work has been in the form of commissions and large gallery canvases.
